An expense tracker that gets the accounting right

A pasted bank message becomes a receipt card. Nothing saves until you confirm it.

Why your tracker says you spent more than you did

Most apps treat every rupee leaving your bank as spending. That works for cash. It falls apart the moment you own a credit card.

An example month. You spend ₹48,000, of which ₹40,000 goes on your credit card. Later you pay that card bill.

Most trackers

₹88,000

The ₹40,000 bill payment is booked a second time, as if it were new spending.

This app

₹48,000

The bill payment moves money and clears a debt. Your spending total does not budge.

How a credit-card bill payment affects a monthly spending total in most trackers compared with this app.

Four rules it applies that most do not

Credit-card bill payment

Not an expense

You already recorded the spending when you swiped.

Why it matters

When you pay a card bill through CRED, BillDesk or net banking, money leaves your bank and a liability shrinks. The spending already happened when you swiped. Most trackers record the bill payment as a fresh expense, so a ₹40,000 card bill makes your month look ₹40,000 worse than it was. Here it is booked as a cc_payment: your bank balance falls, your card due falls, and your spending total does not move.

Transfer between your own accounts

Neither income nor expense

Same money, different place.

Why it matters

Moving ₹50,000 from HDFC to ICICI is not earning ₹50,000 and not spending ₹50,000 — it is the same money in a different place. Booked as an internal transfer, it changes two balances and leaves both the income and the expense totals alone.

SIP, mutual fund or fixed deposit

Investment, not spending

An asset moving, not money leaving.

Why it matters

A ₹10,000 SIP is an asset moving from cash into units. Counting it as spending makes a disciplined saver look like a heavy spender and drags the savings rate down precisely when it should be going up. It is recorded as an investment, so it leaves your bank balance and arrives in your net worth.

Every balance on the dashboard

Derived, never stored

Delete a mistake and every figure corrects itself.

Why it matters

Balances are recalculated from the underlying transactions on every request rather than kept as a running number. Delete a transaction entered by mistake and every figure that depended on it — bank balance, card due, net worth, savings rate — corrects itself immediately. There is no stale total to drift out of step and no 'recalculate' button to remember to press.

How to track expenses from a bank SMS

About ten minutes to set up, most of it typing in today’s balances. After that it is a paste and a tap.

  1. Create a free account

Email and password. Your own private workspace.

  2. Add your accounts as they stand today

Today's balances become the opening balances. No history to import.

  3. Paste a bank message or a payment screenshot

Paste an SMS, type it plainly, or drop in a screenshot.

  4. Check the receipt and confirm

Approve the receipt card. Every balance updates at once.

Every reading carries a confidence score. Anything below 98% is held back for you to check rather than saved quietly, and each save is compared with your existing transactions on amount, date and merchant so the same payment cannot be entered twice.

What it keeps track of

It is a net worth tracker as much as an expense tracker. Spending is one input; the point is the whole picture.

Assets

Bank · Cash · Investments

Liabilities

Card dues · Loans

Net worth

Recalculated live

Nothing here is stored as a running total — every figure is derived from your transactions.

Bank & cash

Every account with a live balance derived from its transactions.

Credit cards

Limit, outstanding and utilisation — with bill payments kept out of spending.

Loans

Outstanding balance and an EMI schedule, with payments reducing the principal.

Investments

Stocks, mutual funds, ETFs, gold and crypto, with profit and loss against prices you enter.

Net worth

Assets minus liabilities, recalculated whenever anything underneath changes.

Monthly view

Income, spending, savings rate and a category breakdown, by month.

Household

Family in one shared workspace, with a record of who entered each transaction.

What it deliberately does not do

Better to find a dealbreaker here than after an evening of data entry.

It does not connect to your bank

No aggregator, no read access, no credentials to hand over.

The detail

There is no account aggregator integration and no read access to any bank. You paste a message or upload a screenshot; nothing is fetched on your behalf. That is a deliberate trade: less automation, and no banking credentials to hand over or to lose.

It does not read your SMS inbox by itself

Browsers grant no SMS permission. You paste; it reads.

The detail

The web app has no SMS permission — browsers do not grant one. Automatic inbox reading is an Android capability, and this is a web application. Copying a message across takes a couple of seconds, and it is the only reason the app never needs access to the rest of your inbox.

Investment prices are entered by hand

No live market feed — holdings are as current as your last price.

The detail

Stocks, mutual funds, ETFs, gold and crypto are tracked with quantity and buy price, and profit or loss is calculated from a current price you enter. There is no live market data feed, so holdings are only as current as the last price you typed.

Nothing saves until you confirm it

Every parse is a receipt card you approve or discard.

The detail

Parsed transactions appear as a receipt card you approve or discard. Anything the parser is less than 98% confident about is flagged for review first. This is a safeguard, not a limitation — but it does mean the app will never silently fill itself in.

What happens to your financial data

You are being asked to put bank balances into somebody else’s system. Here is exactly what that means.

Your workspace is isolated

Every query is restricted to the workspace of the signed-in user, taken from your session rather than from anything your browser sends. Another account cannot address your data.

Message text goes to Google Gemini to be read

When you paste a bank SMS or upload a screenshot, that content is sent to Google's Gemini API, which returns the structured transaction. This is the one external service involved in the core flow, and it is how the parsing works.

Passwords are never stored

They are salted and hashed with scrypt. Session cookies are HttpOnly, Secure and SameSite, so page scripts cannot read them.

No banking credentials are ever collected

There is nothing to leak, because the app never asks for them.

You can delete it

Any transaction can be removed, and every derived figure corrects itself. You can request erasure of the whole account.

We do not sell or share your data

Not with advertisers, data brokers or lenders, and there is no advertising on the tool.

Full detail, including how to make a request about your data, is in our privacy policy.

Who it suits, and who it does not

A good fit if

  • You use two or more bank accounts and at least one credit card
  • You have an SIP or other recurring investment
  • You want net worth, not just a spending total
  • You would rather paste a message than hand over bank access
  • You want a household view with more than one person entering data

Probably not if

  • You want fully automatic tracking with no input at all
  • You need live market prices on your portfolio
  • You need GST invoicing or business books — this is personal finance
  • You want a native Play Store app rather than a web app

Common questions

Is this expense tracker really free?

Yes. There is no paid tier, no trial that expires and no card required to sign up. It is published by Digital Guruji Solutions as a free tool, the same way our WhatsApp Business API pricing calculator is.

How does it track expenses from a bank SMS?

You paste the message into the assistant — the same way you would paste it into a chat. An AI model reads it and returns the amount, date, merchant, account and a category, which the app shows you as a receipt card. You press Confirm and it is saved. Nothing is stored until you confirm, and anything the parser is less than 98% confident about is flagged for your review first.

Why do most expense trackers count credit-card payments twice?

Because they treat every outgoing payment as spending. When you buy something on a card, that is the expense. When you later pay the card bill, money leaves your bank — but it is settling a debt you already recorded, not new spending. A tracker that books both shows roughly double your real card spending. This app books a bill payment as a cc_payment: the bank balance falls, the card due falls, and the spending total is untouched.

Does it connect to my bank account?

No. There is no bank linking, no account aggregator consent and no access to your banking credentials. You paste a message or upload a screenshot of a payment. The trade-off is a few seconds of manual work in exchange for never handing banking access to a third party.

Can my family use the same account?

Yes. Signing up creates a private workspace, and you can invite family members into it. Every transaction records who entered it, so a shared household ledger still shows who added what. Separate sign-ups get separate workspaces that cannot see each other's data.

What happens to the bank messages I paste?

The text or image you paste is sent to Google's Gemini API to be read, and the structured result is stored in your workspace in our database. We do not sell data, do not share it with advertisers, and you can delete any transaction or ask for your whole account to be erased. Full detail is in our privacy policy.

Does it track investments and net worth?

Yes. You can record stocks, mutual funds, ETFs, gold and crypto with quantity and buy price, and the app calculates profit or loss against a current price you enter. Those holdings, your bank balances, your card dues and your loan balances are combined into a net worth figure that updates as transactions change. There is no live market price feed, so valuations are only as current as the last price you entered.

Is there a mobile app?

It is a progressive web app rather than a Play Store or App Store listing. Open it in your phone's browser and use Add to Home Screen, and it behaves like an installed app with its own icon. There is nothing to download and nothing to update.

Start with today’s balances

Nothing to import and no history to back-fill. Enter what your accounts hold right now, paste your next bank message, and the numbers build from there.
